Important Tools for ATV/UTV Repair
An ATV or UTV is a big investment, and if you want to protect that investment, you'll need to make sure you stay current with routine maintenance and repairs. It's way too easy to keep riding an ATV or UTV with a small problem which then becomes a big problem out on the trail, and that can lead to a crash, a stranded vehicle, or worse. If you're handy, you can handle some of these basic fixes yourself as long as you have the right tools. We've gathered a list of the most important tools for side by side and quad maintenance below. For those who'd rather not do the work themselves, you can always bring your toy into Interstate Cycles.

Air Compressor
An air compressor has several uses in the world of powersport maintenance and repair. You can use it to inflate your tires, blow out your fuel lines, or dry off parts after washing them. Although it's a bit of an investment in and of itself, an air compressor has many other uses outside of repairing your ATV/UTV, so it can be a handy thing to have around.
Test Light
A test light is a great tool to have around when you're working on an electrical system. Essentially, the light measures electrical current before and after a connection to see if the connection is complete. And since many models cost less than $20, it's a cheap upgrade for many tool kits.
Tire Pressure Gauge
If you own an ATV or UTV, there's no excuse for not owning a tire pressure gauge. Tires are one of the most important part on your vehicle, and they can easily blow out if their pressure is off. An inexpensive tire pressure gauge will allow you to keep your tires at the right pressure at all times.
Screwdrivers
Screwdrivers are helpful for many projects that are smaller in scale but nonetheless important. Many parts in and around the engine are attached or regulated with the use of screws. You'll want to have both flathead and phillips screwdriver models, preferably in multiple sizes.
Sockets
Sockets are great to have around because they are less likely to damage stuck on fasteners. They also help to remove nuts and bolts much faster than normal wrenches. Make sure to have a full selection of metric sockets, since most ATVs/UTVs are built using metric fasteners.
Wrenches
There are many types of wrench that can be helpful for working on a ATV or UTV. Standard solid wrenches are great for a variety of uses, and a crescent wrench will help you take off a fastener of an unknown size in a jiffy. Allen wrenches are also helpful for many situations, and a vice grip will be invaluable for certain tasks.
Torque Wrench
When you're working on the engine or putting on wheels, you'll want to be sure you're tightening your fasteners to the correct tightness. A torque wrench allows you to do this with a high degree of accuracy. There are many models of torque wrench to choose from, so make sure you have one if you open up your engine.
Breaker Bar
Tough, stuck on fasteners are a pain to work with but a breaker bar gives you an advantage - mechanical advantage, that is! These extended, tough wrenches allow you to put way more force into loosening frozen nuts or bolts, a capability that's especially helpful when working on vintage bikes.
Dead Blow Hammer
Hopefully you won't need a hammer when working on your bike, but if you do, you'll want one that doesn't damage your bike when you hit it. A dead blow hammer is made of a softer material such as wood, plastic, or urethane, and it will allow you hammer metal parts into or out of place without doing any damage.
